End-to-end encryption is live 🔒 The update is out. After the server restart, tellmelo was offline for about 3 minutes. Sorry for the short break, and thanks for your patience! From now on you can end-to-end encrypt your chats, in the browser and in our apps. What that means - Your messages are locked on your device before they're sent. - On our server they're just scrambled data. Not even we can read them. - Only you and the person you're chatting with can unlock them, with your 6-digit PIN. How to start Open a chat, turn on encryption and set your PIN. Your chat partner hasn't turned it on yet? Send them an invite with one tap. Good to know - It's optional and currently covers text messages. - Push notifications only show "New message", never the content. - You can choose to only get messages from people who use encryption too. Private chats should stay private. That's how it's always been meant to be.

Your messages get locked there before they ever leave your phone or browser. - On our server they're just scrambled data. Not even we can read them. - You protect everything with a 6-digit PIN. Without it, nobody gets in, us included. What you get - It's optional. Turn it on whenever you want. - In the apps your device remembers it. In the browser you choose: every time, 7 days or 30 days. - Push notifications only say "New message", never the content. - Your chat partner hasn't turned it on yet? Send them an invite with one tap. - Want only encrypted chats? You can choose to only receive messages from people who use it too. For now this covers text messages. Reporting a message still works: in that case you deliberately send us the text yourself.

Honestly, I truly love this site. My feed only shows me what I actually want to see. No random outrage, no ads pretending to be posts. I scroll, I see my people and my topics, and then I close the app without feeling worse than before. Didn't know social media could feel like that.
